The Muench Family Association aims to hold a reunion in the summer of 2014.  What do you think of the idea?

I would love to have a family reunion in 2014 as I was unable to attend the last reunion in 1984. If there is anything I can do to help from Maine I would be glad to volunteer to help.

Great! What we need right now is to build enthusiasm for the idea among more relatives.

I need people to send their contact information to build a database of relatives and friends who are interested in such a reunion, or even who are just interested in being part of the new association.

What a great deal! The only membership requirement for the association is a genetic or marital connection to the Muenches. And it's free!

The point of the association is to promote all things Muench in a more organized way than has been done previously. We (an informal committee at this point) also are trying to post information that we have about our family's past history and genealogy as a service to everyone, so any information that people want to contribute is welcome. Just email the information to me, and I will post it on the site.

We have some rather interesting stuff posted right now, so be sure to check it out and let other interested people know about it. We plan to keep adding to it as we learn more and collect more.

As of now, the database of contact information is pretty small and probably not enough to sustain the type of large reunion I had in mind -- but we are just getting started. I hope to attract more relatives than were able to attend the small gathering we had in fall 2011, so please encourage your family members to send in their information.

Now, just because we are in an early stage of development doesn't mean that we can't begin preliminary planning for a reunion at the same time. Perhaps more details about reunion plans would help bring in more people.

If anyone has some input or wants to help with the planning, please let me know. Thank you for sharing any ideas you have.

Hello,

I recently stumbled upon this site a month or so ago and I was pleasantly surprised. I am so excited to get all of the relatives I know updated on this site! I was at the '84 reunion and it was so much fun. I was a child then, but I remember how much it meant to my family and how much fun we had trying to figure out who was who and how we were related... We learned so much about who we are and where we came from. It was truly a visually surreal moment in time to look around at everyone laughing, crying, dancing, etc.. and know that you have that much family and support at your side. I am so excited and blessed to hopefully attend another reunion and start showing my kids what a wonderful tradition we have started. I would be honored to help volunteer.

Glad to hear it! Thank you for your interest. I was at the 1984 reunion too, a college student at the time. We need to get contact information from family members, and we need to get them interested.

I would be very interested in coming to a reunion. My father Joe Muench and I were in MO last summer and saw Friedrick's grave and learned so much about the Muench heritage. I would love to stay on any "reunion" list and would be happy to help out. Felicity

Felicity,
Thanks for your support, and glad to have you aboard! Would you please send me your contact and genealogical information (and Joes' too, if possible)? It's easy via the contact form on the website. We need the contact information to build a database of family to invite for a reunion, and the genealogical information helps us map our family connections. Please provide whatever you know so that we can continue to build our information resources. Thanks.

Joe and Felicity have sent their genealogical information, which I have added to the family pedigree.
